## PCT - NATIONAL PHASE ENTRY

**Patent Term:** 20 Years

**Deadline:** 30 months

**Language:** German

**Translation:** Translation must be submitted with filing

**Charge for Excess Claims:** Yes, for claims over 10

**Examination Request:** Examination request required within 7 years from international filing date

**Required Documents:** Power of Attorney (POA) - Only if the representative is not a German patent attorney

**Annuities:** Due annually starting from the 3rd year

## PARIS CONVENTION - DIRECT FILING

**Patent Term:** 20 Years

**Deadline:** 12 months

**Language:** German

**Translation:** Translation must be submitted within 3 months of filing, or 12 months if the application is in English or French

**Charge for Excess Claims:** Yes, for claims over 10

**Examination Request:** Examination request required within 7 years from international filing date

**Required Documents:** Power of Attorney (POA) - Only if the representative is not a German patent attorney; Priority document within 16 months of the earliest priority date

**Annuities:** Due annually starting from the 3rd year

## DESIGN APPLICATION

**Patent Term:** 5 Years

**Deadline:** 6 months from the date of priority

**Language:** German

**Translation:** Translation not required

**Charge for Excess Claims:** N/A

**Examination Request:** Examination not required

**Required Documents:** Power of Attorney (POA) - Only if the representative is not a German patent attorney; Priority document within 16 months of the earliest priority date; Representation of design; Applicant and designer details; Description; Classes of goods to be classified

**Annuities:** Due annually starting from the 3rd year

## TRADEMARK APPLICATION

**Patent Term:** 10 Years

**Deadline:** None (renewable every 10 years)

**Language:** German

**Translation:** Translation not required

**Charge for Excess Claims:** N/A

**Examination Request:** Examination not required

**Required Documents:** Power of Attorney (POA) - Only if the representative is not a German patent attorney; Priority document if claiming priority; Trademark representation; List of goods and services; Applicant details

**Annuities:** Due every 10 years
